Training Information

The Investment Readiness Training Course were organized by the Center for Financial Inclusion at ACCION International  and EDA Rural Systems


Where and when did the courses occur?

Each course was three days in length; two courses were conducted in India (Kolkata on February 10–12, and Delhi on February 15–17), one course was conducted in Nepal (March 25-27) and one course was conducted in Sri Lanka (March 30-April 1.) MFIs outside of these nations were also invited to attend. Each course was limited to 35 participants.


What did the registration fee include?

The course registration fee included all training materials, tea/coffee, lunches, training certificate, and follow-up counsel on business plan, plus one ticket to Microfinance Cracking Capital Markets South Asia 2010 conference and Investment Marketplace in Delhi on June 23-24, 2010. Attendees wereresponsible for their own travel and overnight accommodations.

 

What could you expect during the course?

Each course was facilitated by two highly experienced instructors from the Center for Financial Inclusion at ACCION International or MEDA, and EDA Rural Systems.

The course focused on strategies for attracting commercial investors and outside capital to the participating MFIs; as such, the target audience was senior management of MFIs that are seeking to widen their supply of debt capital and/or begin the quest for equity investment. For more information on specific topics addressed by the course, please visit our program.

 

What can you expect following the course?

Following the three-day course, MFIs were eligible to request feedback from EDA Rural Systems regarding the creation of a business plan for the institution. Training instructors will also be present at the Microfinance Cracking Capital Markets South Asia conference and the accompanying Investment Marketplace to provide guidance to the trainee MFIs.  For more information on the Conference and Investment Marketplace, click here.
