From 2013 to 2020, CFI’s Smart Campaign has managed the Client Protection Certification program, an independent, third-party evaluation to publicly recognize financial institutions that meet adequate standards of care in their treatment of clients. To date it has enabled more than 135 certified financial institutions in over 40 countries to demonstrate adherence to the Client Protection Principles and practices that aim to ensure prudent, transparent, and respectful treatment of clients.

The Smart Campaign began to gradually retire the Smart Certification Program in 2020, and the final Smart Certifications will be awarded by April 30, 2021.
