Caspar Sprokel joined Triodos Investment Management’s Emerging Markets team in July 2012. As Head of Equity he is responsible for global equity investments in inclusive finance. He is a member of the management team and Investment Committee and has served on Boards of SME and microfinance banks in Africa and Asia. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Centenary Bank, which is one of the top-3 banks in Uganda. Caspar has over 20 years of banking and financial sector experience in Europe, Africa and Asia. He was Investment Director at SDG, a Botswana-based private equity fund that focuses on the African financial sector and Missing Middle Markets (2008-2011). Prior to that, Caspar held Senior Investment Management positions with financial institutions in Africa (2003-2006) and was a consultant to the World Bank, KfW and USAID on financial sector reform, SME banking and microfinance (2006-2007). From 1997 to 2003 Caspar held various investment management positions with the Dutch development bank FMO. Caspar started his career with ING Bank in the Netherlands as a management trainee, where he held various commercial and SME banking positions. He has an MBA from the University of Groningen and holds certificates in Banking & Finance, French and Corporate Law from various universities.
