Michael Mithika is the President and Chief Executive Officer of VisionFund International, one of the world’s largest microfinance networks. As World Vision’s microfinance arm, VisionFund is an organisation dedicated to impacting the lives of children in over 30 countries by delivering targeted financial services to vulnerable communities, with a particular focus on smallholder farmers and women.
A Finance and Accounting graduate from United States International University, Michael began his career in investment banking in 1994 as a Corporate Finance Analyst in Kenya and later became an Associate in regional investment banking firm, Loita Capital Partners, in South Africa in 1996.
In 1997, Michael co-founded J.M. Mantle & Co., a finance and advisory firm that provides specialist consulting services to financial institutions and development organisations in sub-Saharan Africa.
He founded the School of African Microfinance in 2005, an international training course for senior managers and consultants, growing it into Africa’s leading executive microfinance training programme supporting over 1,400 executives from more than 40 countries.
Michael relocated from Kenya to London to take up his post at VisionFund in October 2017.
