Around the world, low-income communities are facing the most severe impacts of the climate crisis, economic instability, and rising poverty and inequality. They are predominantly women, small business owners, and smallholder farmers in emerging markets, who have only just begun to participate in the digital economy. Digital innovation is making it possible to provide targeted infrastructure, financial services, and skill-building opportunities to these groups in never-before-seen-ways. But eroding consumer trust, bias in algorithms, and fraud threaten to reverse progress and entrench existing divides. How can we leverage digital innovation responsibly to maximize opportunities, and minimize risks?

Michael Schlein

President and CEO, Accion

Michael Schlein brings nearly 30 years of international banking, management, and public service experience to his role as President and CEO of Accion. He is responsible for creating and implementing Accion’s strategy, managing its global team, and building a high-performing organization. Michael builds partnerships with the public and private sector, encouraging more energy, investments, and action directed at creating a financially inclusive world.

Shamina Singh

Founder and President, Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth

Shamina Singh is the Founder and President of the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, the social impact hub of Mastercard. She also serves as Mastercard’s Executive Vice President of Sustainability and is a member of the company’s Management Committee.

Anita Bhatia

Founder, The Impact Commons & Former Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director, UN Women

Anita Bhatia served as Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director of UN Women from 2019 to 2023. She has also served in various senior leadership and management positions at the World Bank Group. Recently, she founded the Impact Commons.

Lesly Goh

Senior Technology Advisor, World Bank

Lesly Goh is the World Bank Group’s Senior Technology Advisor. Previously, she served as the World Bank Group’s Chief Technology Officer and Director for Enterprise Architecture and Technology Innovation. She is a Fellow at Cambridge University and Senior Fellow at National University of Singapore (NUS) Lee Kuan Yew Public Policy School.
