Global Off-Grid Solar Forum and Expo
January 22-24, 2018
The Global Off-Grid Solar Forum and Expo convenes a wide ranging swath of stakeholders from the off-grid solar sector, providing a unique platform for knowledge exchange, networking and showcasing of off-grid solar products and services. The event aims to accelerate the development of the global off-grid solar market contributing to achieving universal energy access by 2030. Isabelle Barres, Global Director of the Smart Campaign, is speaking in a panel on consumer protection in the off-grid solar industry.
As the off-grid solar industry, and particularly the pay-as-you-go (PAYG) segment, is starting to serve large numbers of customers fast, some stakeholders are questioning whether the off-grid industry is transparent enough on how it protects customers – for example, from over-pricing or over-indebting. It will be increasingly important for off-grid businesses to demonstrate that they put customer interests central.
Leading industry actors are becoming increasingly aware of this need and are open to cooperate, but will need support to achieve a common industry position. GOGLA, with support of DOEN Foundation and FMO, are organizing this session to discuss the “why” and “how” of a joint industry initiative. If you’re attending the Global Off-Grid Solar Forum and Expo, we hope you’ll be able to join what we’re sure will be a riviting discussion.
