We’d like to share a very interesting and new-ish entrant to the microfinance blogosphere – the Inter-American Development Bank now has a Spanish-language blog on microfinance. This blog features entries by IADB staff such as financial inclusion expert Sergio Navajas.
One of their recent posts covers the IADB program Opportunities for the Majority, which recently held the 1st Forum for the Development of the Base of the Pyramid in Latin America and the Caribbean. There, along with 500 Latin American execs, staff discussed the opportunity that engaging the Bottom of the Pyramid represents. Check out their blog post here.
It’s interesting how the IADB’s agenda intersects with the Center’s new “Opportunities and Obstacles to Financial Inclusion” report, which recognizes the interest shown by many sectors in engaging microfinance clients, and highlights risks and opportunities that these players should be aware of when entering the field.
We look forward to sharing the blogosphere with the IADB and expanding the dialogue on microfinance, financial inclusion, and consumer protection – now in Español!
