As the summer comes to an end, what better way to bring in the fall than with MicroBike 2010?
MicroBike began in the summer of 2008, when 6 college students set out on a cross-country bike ride to raise funds to fight poverty. This team, who called themselves MicroBike USA, not only raised funds for ACCION International, but also raised microfinance awareness throughout the country. Since then, MicroBike has become a worldwide event through which anyone can contribute to the success of microfinance initiatives.
Last year, MicroBike participants raised $41,000 for the 3.3 million microentrepreneurs ACCION serves around the world. We encourage you to participate in this year’s event, which will be held on the weekend of October 1-3rd. You can contribute to MicroBike in many different ways—join a team, create your own, or simply make a general donation to the cause.
Here in Washington, DC, we will be riding on Sunday, October 3rd, at 10am. We’d love to meet local blog readers in person that day. But no matter where you are, be sure to sign up for MicroBike and continue to support microfinance!
