Smart Campaign Launches Website in Arabic

The Smart Campaign’s newly launched Arabic-language site is the latest in a suite of websites that offers the message of client protection to the world’s 2.9 billion speakers of English, Spanish, Arabic, Russian and French.
“Arabic has hundreds of millions of native and non-native speakers in the MENA region and beyond, so we’re pleased to offer them the Smart Campaign’s message in this straightforward way,” said Smart Campaign Director Isabelle Barrès. “The MasterCard Foundation, which supports this work, has our great thanks, as does Sanabel, the Microfinance Network of Arab Countries, for their help.”
Besides mapping out the basics of the Smart Campaign, including its mission and goals, the new Arabic-language site also presents the Client Protection Principles and the answers to frequently asked questions. It also offers visitors the Campaign’s Steering Committee and a comprehensive list of endorsers.
The new site also makes clear exactly how microfinance institutions, their associations, investors and donors, and support organizations and individuals can endorse the Campaign and take suitable client protection actions.
The site offers visitors tools including “Conducting Client Protection Assessments: A Guide” and the “Getting Started Questionnaire: A Client Protection Self-Assessment for Microfinance Institutions.” Tools supplied by Smart Campaign endorsers, such as the “Complaints-Handling Manual” of the Jordanian microcredit company Tamweelcom, are also featured. More tools in Arabic will be rolled out as they are submitted in that language or translated.
