We may collect various types of personal information when you use our website or when you voluntarily provide us with your personal information, such as personal information submitted by you through our website when you submit an online form, register for an event, make a donation, sign up for a mailing list or participate in the recruitment process for employment or volunteer opportunities, or personal information submitted by you through email.

Examples of personal information that we may collect include contact information you provide, such as name, email address, zip/postal codes, mailing address and phone number; donation information; employment information you provide, such as previous positions, employment history, academic record, awards, membership in professional organizations and other screening and due diligence information; communications data, including information provided by you about your subscription preferences; user data and usage information collected by our website, such as IP address, date and time of access, location, technical data and other information regarding your visit and use of our website.

We may use your personal information for a number of purposes and activities, such as to send you periodic communications with information about our organization, programs and services or general financial inclusion developments; to process donations; to support our fundraising efforts; to manage event registration and participation; to respond to and evaluate job or volunteer applicants; to analyze and improve our website and our communications; to comply with our legal obligations; and to respond to your requests or inquiries. You may always opt out of receiving communications; see the “Opt-Out” section below.

We use your personal information only where necessary to comply with our legal or regulatory obligations; where necessary to pursue our legitimate interests, provided that your fundamental rights and freedoms do not outweigh that interest; or where you have provided your consent, which can be withdrawn at any time. Our legitimate interest in processing your data is to promote and support our work to create a financially inclusive world.

Cookies

As with many other internet sites, we collect certain information in the form of “cookies” to understand how users use our website. Cookies are small pieces of data sent from a website and stored on a visitor’s web browser. Cookies may be used to gather information that will help us personalize your experience on our website and to customize and improve the content and layout.  Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can modify your browser settings to refuse to accept cookies if you prefer. For your online security, we use a Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliant Level 1 Service Provider to process online donations pursuant to the highest industry standards and guidelines for PCI compliance. Please refer to the “Third-Party Sites” section below for more information. Independent external audits are conducted to ensure the privacy, security, and appropriate processing of your payment information. No online credit or debit card information is received or processed directly by us.

Sharing Your Information

We may share your personal information for the purposes described in this privacy policy with our affiliates, partners, consultants, vendors and service providers, subject to applicable confidentiality and data protection obligations. We will never rent, trade, or sell your e-mail address or other personal information for commercial purposes. However, we may agree with other reputable, charitable organizations to exchange a donor’s contact information in order to write via postal mail or e-mail to some of each other’s supporters in order to reduce costs and expand our audience. If a donor prefers not to have his/her name and contact information used in this manner, he/she can send a request to the Resource Development department via e-mail to donate@accion.org or by phone at (617) 625-7080, extension 3.
