Kim Wilson

Kim Wilson is a Senior Lecturer in Human Security and International Business at Tufts University’s Fletcher School, teaching courses on financial and economic inclusion. A seasoned practitioner in global development, she focuses on advancing financial health for marginalized communities. Before joining Fletcher, she spearheaded Catholic Relief Services’ global financial inclusion initiatives, designing programs to expand access to financial services in underserved regions.
Her scholarly work examines financial resilience and the economic experiences of displaced populations, with recent research highlighting refugee financial journeys through The Journeys Project. She is the founder of the Fletcher Leadership Program for Financial Inclusion, an executive education program equipping central bankers and policymakers with tools to promote inclusive finance. She is also a Senior Research Fellows at Fletcher’s Leir Institute for Migration and Human Security.
An advisor to many institutions, Kim has consulted for the United Nations, World Bank (CGAP), and numerous international NGOs and governments. She holds leadership roles as a board member of Fletcher’s Hitachi Center for Technology and International Affairs and an advisor to the Council for Financial Inclusion, following prior governance work with the SEEP Network. Kim is the co-author of Backyard Bankers: Immigrants, Money Clubs, and the Pursuit of the American Dream (Practical Action Press, 2025) and the forthcoming The Financial Journeys of Migrants and Refugees (Princeton University Press, 2025), which explores how displaced populations navigate economic systems during displacement.
