This detailed guidance is intended to reflect the Smart Campaign’s understanding of the community consensus on the meaning and interpretation of each of the Client Protection Principles (CPPs). It integrates important considerations to take into account when protecting consumers from risks when financial services are evaluated and delivered through digital means. The guidance begins with a general discussion of each principle and then discusses product-specific applications as the principle applies to credit, savings, payment services, and insurance.

The Smart Campaign was a global initiative led by CFI that worked to create an environment in which financial services are delivered safely and responsibly to low-income clients.
